Glad to see you're back, though I'm sad you don't like 'Monarch,' which I think thus far is the best written installment of the Monsterverse.
Also, I'd argue King of the Monsters has its fans, myself included. Imo, it is the best Monsterverse movie, though one that sadly never got the running time to do justice to its ambitious story.
In any case, looking forward to your takes on this franchise!
Interesting on Monarch! I gave it three episodes, and I didn't hate it at all - I might jump back in if people seem to have enjoyed where the season ends up.
I think I'm most interested to revisit KOTM, a movie I didn't like at all on first watch. Still remember how incredible that first trailer was!
Monarch does have some downs - like the writers are still figuring out the younger female characters - but as a whole, I can see the potential of this becoming a great show. I love the economy of its writing and how it's slowly building to something big. At the very least, its human characters are more interesting than ones in the movies.
KOTM, I'd say, unfortunately is a very rushed film particularly in its first half. If it had an additional 20-30 minutes, it would be more recognized as being great. But yeah, the trailers for it were amazing.
