What is going on?

Good question!

Nostalgia Detective is a newsletter dedicated towards examining some of recent cinema’s biggest franchises, and giving them a bump on the head to see what’s inside. We’re about putting pop culture in its social and political context. We’re about corporate drama. We’re about messy industry bullshit. We’re about turning the stories of the making of stories into stories. Frankly, we’re a film gossip column with extra steps.

Does that make any sense? Doesn’t it? Good.

The newsletter runs in cycles dedicated to a different franchise - currently we’re on The Twilight Saga, but you can catch older series in the archive, such as Mission: Impossible, Fast & Furious, Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man and Daniel Craig’s Bond films.

Who are you?

I am Louis. I’m a part-time writer and full-time worrier from the UK who absolutely bloody loves pop culture. I’ve been published at Little White Lies, Notion and MASSIVE Cinema. I work in theatre PR, which has absolutely nothing to do with any of this.

What should I do next?

Subscribe, you fool! It’s always free, and these newsletters are always long, because I cannot shut up.
